About Mr. Brunner

Mr. Andrew Brunner

Hello! Thank you for taking a moment to learn a little about me. I hope I get the opportunity to hear your story sometime.

I grew up in Elma, NY and attended Iroquois Schools. This was a community of good neighbors. I graduated with the goal of becoming an Environmental Engineer. After attending the College of Environmental Science & Forestry (SUNY ESF) for two years as an engineering student, I was introduced to the complexity of forest ecosystems through a class called Forest Ecology & Silviculture with Dr. Chris Nowak. This program changed my life. I had to learn more! Thus, I completed my bachelor of science degree studying Forest Ecosystem Science. This is the research side of forestry/forest management.

After graduating, I moved out to Fairplay, Colorado to work with the U.S. Forest Service, practicing what I had learned. I later ended up in Telluride, CO teaching outdoor education. Watching students get excited about the local environment around them was inspirational. This new passion for working with students, along with a desire to be closer to my family, drove me back to WNY where I intend to stay. Traveling the country is incredibly interesting, but there is no place like home!

Working in and interacting with various cultures, visiting National Parks and Wilderness areas around the country, and studying at SUNY ESF has created, what I believe is, a well rounded understanding of how to apply environmental science in our society. I hope to share this wisdom and passion with our students and community in Eden. My goal is that our community continues to grow as a sustainably minded group that cares for the natural beauty around us.
