IRLA
Steps: An IRLA log sheet will be sent home for students to track the number of steps they read at home. Every 15 minutes, you and your child read together will count as one step. It is recommended that students read for 30 minutes (2 steps) each night. When you sign the log, please write the date and circle the house for the number of steps read that night. It is not per book!
Bookshelf: On your child’s iPad, there is an app called Bookshelf. This app allows your child to have access to IRLA leveled books for each color of the program. Most students will be starting Kindergarten with the yellow books. We will be showing students how to use this app at school in the coming weeks.
Medals: For every 100 steps, students complete between home and school they will earn a medal from our school to celebrate their reading accomplishments!
The following site will provide you with information on the early reading levels of IRLA. If you click on your child's colored level at the top, you will be directed to a page that explains the focus skill for that level.

Please practice sight words at home. Below is a list 1G and 2G words. Please practice the words off the list depending on what level your child is currently at. It is helpful to make flashcards and practice a few each week.
