Meet the Teacher

Mr. Walker

Hello!! 

I am Mr. Walker, and I am one of the Kindergarten Teachers here at Eden GLP! I have been teaching Kindergarten at GLP since the Fall of 2017. Prior to that, I worked for the Erie County Sheriff's Office in both the Holding Center downtown for 2 years, and at the Alden Facility for 1 year. I have a wide variety of experiences that I draw upon in my teaching. I finished my undergrad in Psychology, with a minor in Meteorology. I have been storm chasing, I have worked for both a Sports camp as well as a Summer camp (which led to me choosing to pursue teaching), and I have extensive knowledge with most forms of technology. I use all of these to shape my lessons and classroom atmosphere. 

I am a huge sports fan, both of the Bills and Sabres, and I am an avid Disc Golfer (which is how I spend most of my summer, playing in tournaments and helping the Disc Golf Community). I thoroughly enjoy almost all types of music, and I even play guitar here and there as a hobby. I also coach Soccer here in Eden since 2018, and am currently trying to help introduce a Disc Golf Club to the school as well. 

One of my main ideals as a teacher is creating a positive and engaging environment in the classroom. I usually go by the motto of "if it isn't fun for me to teach, it probably isn't fun for them to learn". I strive to create lessons and activities for students that are fun for them to do, while still helping them learn the target objectives. Technology is a tool that I find extremely helpful in adding variety and engagement to activities to reinforce learned material and sometimes introduce new content, so I use it frequently. I also maintain an open door policy, and try to be available whenever possible. If at any time you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or Class Dojo.
