Choral Music
There are many choral opportunities available for the students at Eden Jr. Sr. High School. In addition to the choirs listed below, Junior and Senior High students are encouraged to perform solos for the annual NYSSMA competition. This solo festival allows them to become eligible for All State and Conference All State Festivals. Students are also able to audition for the Erie County Junior and Senior High Choirs whose auditions take place in the Fall for Junior High and in January for Senior High.
Junior High Choir
Junior High Choir is available to all students in grades seven and eight. The choir meets every other day for 40 minutes all year. Junior High Choir fulfills the state music requirement for middle school students and performs three times a year. We perform a wide range of music including classical, musical theater, folk songs, jazz, multicultural, and classic rock. Currently there are 167 students participating in this choir. Students in this group have the opportunity to audition for All County and All State.
Senior High Choir
Senior High Choir is available to all students in grades nine through twelve. This year there are 102 in the Senior High Choir that meet in three sections. Senior High Choir meets for 40 minutes every other day all year. I sometimes pull a select groups of students out of the Senior High Choir to form a chamber choir that performs advanced level music. Most students in this course take small group lessons in which they are taught sight reading and some music theory. When taken for two years this course fulfills the state arts requirement. Singers from this group have the opportunity to audition for All County and All State.
