Eden CSD Featured on UPK Podcast
Dear Eden District Families and Staff Members,
About a year ago, we began examining in earnest if we could transition our half-day prekindergarten program to full day offerings. It was and is important to examine all of our educational offerings to ensure we are providing the best programming for our students, no matter their age. Full day prekindergarten has so many positive attributes including ensuring students are well prepared for full day elementary schooling.
As you may be aware, at the start of the school year we did offer two full day prekindergarten classrooms and two half day classrooms. This past month, the two half day classrooms were converted to full day, thus providing all of Eden's prekindergarten students with a full day of active learning. The final transition to full day prekindergarten was attainable because the District applied for and was awarded an expanison grant from the New York State Department of Education.
Our District has much to celebrate and be proud of. The manner in which we educate our youngest learners is certainly high on the list! This focus on early childhood education has not gone unnoticed. The link that follows will take the listner to a podcast published by the Erie-Niagara School Superintendents Association. I was honored that Mrs. Carter and I were featured on this week's episode of the podcast, Achieving Joy and Mastery in Public Education. The transition to full day prekindergarten and the fact that Eden was one of a handful of Districts to recieve the grant has gotten us noticed. As you will hear when you listen to the podcast, there are many elements to the entire primary school program that are unique and points of pride.
Take a listen when you have some time. The link to the podcast can be found HERE.
Be well,
Jeff
