What are Standard Based Report Cards?

Eden Central School District is excited to announce the implementation of our standards-based report cards. The purpose of the report card is to communicate to parents, students and staff the progress that each student is making towards mastering the New York State Learning Standards.

Why standards-based report cards?

Standards-based report cards are directly correlated to the New York State next-generation learning standards and expectations for college and career readiness.

What are standards-based report cards?

A standards-based report card lists the most important skills students should learn in each subject in a particular grade level. Students receive marks that show how well they have mastered the skills. The grade shows whether the student is exceeding, meeting, progressing or is an area of concern for each standard. All students in each grade level are evaluated on the same grade-appropriate skills. Standards-based report cards allow parents to see exactly which skills and knowledge their children have learned.

What are standards and how are they identified?

The New York State Learning Standards are a clear set of expectations for the knowledge and skills students need in each academic subject area so that they can be prepared for success in college and career.

How do standards-based grades differ?

Standards-based report card students progress is measured on specific skills and knowledge for each subject area. Students receive a mark for each standard.
