Nurse's Office
MEDICATION
Students required to take medication during the school day must comply with the following guidelines:
-
A written order from a licensed physician must accompany the medication in the original container.
-
Parents/guardians are requested to transport the medication to the nurse’s office where it will be kept in a locked cupboard.
- If a student is to carry their own inhaler, etc., the parent and the doctor must complete a form which will be kept in the student’s permanent health record.
2026-2027 New York State Immunization Requirements
Health Examination/Physical
As of July 1st, 2018, New York State law requires all students entering the school district for the first time such as new enrollments, pre-k, or kindergarteners must receive a mandatory health exam. The health exam is required again when the student begins: 1st Grade, 3rd Grade, 5th Grade, 7th Grade, 9th Grade, and 11th Grade. A copy of the health exam must be submitted to the school health office within 30 days of the start of the new school year.
Hearing/Vision/Scoliosis Screening
If the doctor office does not preform or fails to fully complete the hearing (all grades), vision (all grades), or scoliosis (middle school/high school only) screening on the form at the time of your health examination, the school medical director in collaboration with the school nurse is required to do so. If you do not wish for the school nurse or medical director to routinely screen your child in the upcoming school year, please submit a written note expressing this to the school nurse within 30 calendar days of the beginning of the new school year.
