Reading Program at GLP
The Reading Program at GLP is committed to early intervention for all students in grades K-2.
Our Kindergarten Literacy Lab Program offers direct support for students at risk for reading difficulties. Children attend the K-Lab for an hour a day. They receive instruction in early literacy skills, including concepts of print, alphabetic principles, and phonemic awareness. The K-Lab is staffed by our reading specialists, a teacher aide, and another certified teacher.
The first and second grade reading programs offer support for students in a small group setting with our reading specialists. Children generally attend small group sessions for thirty minutes per day with other students from their regular classroom.
